Hi everyone!
Tomorrow is the International Translation Day! This is such a big deal for all translators, and every year I post about it! I am so thankful for another year of great work and learning experiences. If you want to read last year’s post, here is the link: International Translation Day 2021
I am happy to say that I continue working as a Content Editor for FluentU! So, I’ve been at it for over a year now. It involves a lot of work but I love it! I’ve learned so much from this work experience, it is incredible. I never thought I’d be able to become a Content Editor but that is the beauty of being a freelance translator: you never know where your path will take you.
I’ve continued working on medical-related translation and proofreading. I also did some cognitive interviews. It was a big project but it was very rewarding!
I’ve also started working more on proofreading and editing Google Ad Search texts for brands like Verizon, and also for Amazon Ads. These are two ongoing projects, and I am also learning a lot from each of them. When it comes to ads, you have character restrictions, so you need to be creative with the translations without losing the essential message from the client.
I also signed up to be a TED volunteer! I haven’t completed that many projects, but it is a great way to learn and gain experience with subtitling. If you want to learn more about the process of subtitling and have considered starting to offer that service, TED is a great way to get started.
Regarding social media, the biggest change is that I finally opened a business page on LinkedIn. Make sure to visit it and follow it. I still have my personal profile but I am posting more on my page.
On Instagram, I went from around 2,300 followers to about 2,900. Not such a big growth as last year but significant enough for me. I love my followers and I appreciate that they take the time to follow me, like my posts, and comment on them. If you are not following me on IG yet, what are you waiting for? 😉
I continue meeting on Zoom with the local group of translators and interpreters once a month. It continues to be a lot of fun. They’ve had some great guests this year.
I was lucky enough to have been invited to participate in an interview with fellow translator Jane Kim, and record a podcast episode with Rafa Lombardino from Translation Confessional.
I finally moved to my new work area! I love it! I have a new desk, a lot of natural light from a window, and it just feels right! I feel more motivated to work just from moving from a very dark space to a lighted one.
I am also very proud to have become an Ambassador for Day Translations! They are sponsoring all my blog posts, they are really the best! I feel very honored to represent them 🙂
My family has been going through some tough issues this year. It hasn’t been easy to focus on the work sometimes but I find comfort in doing my work. It is my passion and it helps to take my head away from sad thoughts.
