Today I’ll talk to you about the process that takes to make Day Awards a reality every year.
The first step of that process is, of course, choosing the nominees for each award. For this, Day Translations reach out to both their internal personnel and external collaborators, and industry experts to find out which new technologies or content could get nominated.
Then their experts select three nominees for each category. It isn’t an easy job to do with so many great things happening in our industry but they manage to choose the ones that really have made a difference both for translation agencies and independent linguists.
Let’s take a look at last year’s nominees for the External Categories, to get a better idea:
CAT Tool of the Year:
- Smartcat – Winner
- SDL Trados Studio
Translation Management System of the Year:
- OOONA – Winner
Subtitles for Non-English Content of the Year:
- Bac Nord
- Money Heist – Winner
- Space Sweepers
Localized Game of the Year:
- Ghost of Tsushima
- Resident Evil: Village – Winner
Translated Book of the Year:
- Natural Histories
- The God Child
- When We Cease to Understand the World – Winner
Such great nominees and winners last year! And the great thing is that the winners are chosen by the public. Both Day Translations employees and collaborators along with the public in general, get an opportunity to vote!
This year’s nominees will be announced soon! Stay tuned to find out who they are and how you can vote for them. In the meantime, I’d like to thank Day Translations for sponsoring this post! Learn more about their awards here: https://www.daytranslations.com/dayawards2022/
Until next time, take care and stay safe!
