Hi everyone!
Today I want to talk about how lucky I’ve been to be invited to two different platforms to talk about my favorite subject: Translation!
First, back in April, I was invited by Korean translator Jane Kim, to have a little chat for her YouTube channel. We talked about what it is like to be freelance translators, what motivates us, and what we have learned along the way. How you can end up doing something that you never thought you’d be doing. But that is the path of a freelance translator: you never know where it might take you.

And that is what is so thrilling about this career! I’ve learned to be so many more things than just translating. I’ve also learned to be a copywriter, a content localizer, a content editor, a cultural consultant… and so many more things. Jane is studying how to write code, something that maybe we should all be looking into.
Then, in June, I had the honor to be invited to one of my favorite podcasts: Translation Confessional, by the amazing Rafa Lombardino! I couldn’t believe that she invited me to her podcast, which is one of the most popular ones in the industry. Along with Brazilian translator Candice Soldatelli, we talked about what it means to be a legal sworn translator in Guatemala and Brazil, and what are the processes to become one in each country. We had such a fun time just talking among friends and colleagues.
I’ve never been a good public speaker. I always go blank when it is my turn to speak. But for these two recordings, I had no problem speaking! I think it is because translation is my passion, and I can’t shut up about it!

What about you? Have you had the opportunity to speak in public or on video? Is it something you enjoy doing? Let me know about your experience in the comments!
